A guide to replacing teeth and rebuilding smiles that shine with confidence
Smiles should be a source of pride. As a central feature of your face, they are unmistakable and often make a lasting impression without a single word. At Semidey Dental, we believe everyone deserves to feel great about the appearance, feel, and function of their teeth.
To help you make that wonderful first and lasting impression, we offer a comprehensive range of dental restoration services to replace missing or failing teeth. These tooth replacement options can truly transform the lives of our patients in Davie, Florida, by transforming their smiles.
I still have some healthy teeth. What options might be available to me?
First, our dentists, Drs. Alex Semidey and Sara Tarte, will evaluate the condition of your teeth, gums, and jawbone. Based on this assessment and in consultation with you, we may recommend dental bridges, partial dentures, or dental implants to replace one or a few teeth.
Dental bridges are a fixed solution that relies on neighboring “anchor” teeth for stability, securely holding the bridge in place. Partial dentures, or “partials,” attach to the remaining teeth using specialized clasps or other connectors and can be removed for cleaning.
What about using implants to replace a few teeth?
Implants are highly versatile. Here again, depending on the condition of your remaining teeth and the supportive bone, we may recommend a single dental implant to replace one tooth. Alternatively, a dental bridge may be stabilized in the jaw with a few precisely placed implants to replace more than one tooth. This alternative does not rely on existing healthy teeth for its support. Rather, the crown or bridge is held in place by implants that function as tooth roots.
What if I don’t have any healthy teeth left?
No worries! Semidey Dental is here to help, and few treatments are as rewarding to us as full-mouth rehabilitation or smile makeovers with implants. At our office in Davie, FL, we are equipped to provide minimally invasive approaches to implants and other dental services. We have the expertise to use a minimal number of implants to support or retain a maximum number of teeth. This approach, often called “All on 4,” promotes the most pleasant and comfortable experience at the dentist’s office. It minimizes the number of implant sites and the time spent “chairside” or in treatment.
Our patients appreciate that rebuilding an entire upper or lower arch of teeth with as few as four implants is not cost-prohibitive! You don’t have to be independently wealthy, a celebrity, or royalty to benefit from full-mouth reconstruction with dental implants. There is sure to be an option that is right for you and your budget.

FAQs
What happens if I don’t replace missing teeth?
Our tooth tribe wants you to look and feel your best. Gaps in your smile can affect how you feel about yourself and your confidence. They can also affect basic functions, from how you chew your food to how you pronounce words. Lastly, prolonged tooth loss can cause other teeth to shift out of alignment. They tend to drift toward the empty space. Bone loss is another complication of tooth loss.
What is bone loss?
The supportive bone in your jaw needs stimulation from teeth to stay dense, strong, and healthy. The jawbone shrinks when that stimulation is gone due to tooth loss. Your skin and other tissues no longer have the support and structure that they need. As a result, the lower portion of your face may appear drawn and “collapsed,” which ages you. It can also make problems with eating and speaking increasingly worse.
How does replacing teeth prevent these complications?
Our tooth replacement options can fill your gaps to support an attractive, healthy, and functional smile that is a source of pride. However, should bone loss be a concern, there is no better solution than dental implants.
How do dental implants prevent bone loss?
Dental implants do not simply replace teeth; they also keep the bone in the jaw strong. Since the prosthetic teeth are connected to the jaw through implants, the supportive bone gets the stimulation from chewing food and other functions to retain its density and health. The shape and structure of your face is retained, as is your chewing and speech.
I’m only missing one tooth – can I still get implants?
Yes. We have used implants to rebuild everything from a single tooth to a whole smile. If you are missing only one tooth, an implant-supported crown can be an attractive alternative to a conventional dental bridge. This approach protects against complications like bone loss (see above). Implant crowns can also be cared for like natural teeth, with good brushing and flossing. They do not require special products or care like a traditional bridge.
How do partial dentures compare to bridges?
“Partials” are appropriate for patients who are missing several teeth. These teeth may be scattered in the smile. The denture is connected to/held in place by the remaining teeth with special clasps. A conventional dental bridge is appropriate for patients missing a few teeth in a row. The bridge is anchored to neighboring teeth. A bridge may also be stabilized in the mouth by implants.
What option might be best for me?
During your visit, we evaluate the health of any remaining teeth and the supportive tissues, including the condition of your jawbone. Our tooth tribe also discusses important considerations with you – ranging from the treatment process to the care that is required over the long term to keep your new teeth in top shape. Of course, personal preferences and budget cannot be overlooked. We can address challenges to getting the treatment you most want and need, including flexible financing and our cost-saving in-house membership program.
