The Miracle of Dental Implants - Semidey Dental

How do dental implants restore both function and appearance?

Dental implants replace both the tooth and the root.

A small titanium post is placed into the jawbone, where it becomes a stable foundation for a custom-designed restoration. This allows you to:

  • Chew comfortably and evenly
  • Speak clearly
  • Smile without hesitation

The final crown is carefully crafted to blend naturally with your surrounding teeth—so it doesn’t just function well, it looks like it belongs.

Most patients tell us the same thing afterward:
they stop thinking about their teeth again.

What makes in-house implant placement and restoration a benefit?

This is where your experience—and your outcome—really changes.

At many offices, implant treatment is split between multiple providers. At Semidey Dental, everything is done under one roof by the same team who understands your case from day one.

That means:

  • More precise planning
  • Better communication between phases
  • Fewer appointments and less back-and-forth
  • A more predictable, personalized result

We don’t just place implants—we plan them intentionally, using advanced imaging and guided techniques to make sure everything is positioned for long-term success.

Who is a good candidate for dental implants?

Dental implants are a great option for patients who:

  • Are missing one or more teeth
  • Want a stable, long-term solution
  • Have healthy gums and adequate bone support

That said, candidacy isn’t one-size-fits-all.

During your comprehensive evaluation, we look at the full picture—your oral health, bone structure, bite, and lifestyle factors—to determine the best approach for you. If additional steps like bone grafting are needed, we’ll walk you through them clearly and thoughtfully.

What is the process for getting dental implants from start to finish?

Implant treatment is a step-by-step process designed for predictability and long-term success.

Here’s what it typically looks like:

  1. Comprehensive evaluation and 3D imaging to assess the area
  2. Precise implant placement using guided techniques
  3. Healing phase, where the implant integrates with the bone
  4. Custom restoration design (crown, bridge, or denture)
  5. Final placement, restoring full function and aesthetics

Because we handle every phase in-house, your care stays coordinated, efficient, and tailored to you from beginning to end.

How long do dental implants typically last with proper care?

Dental implants are designed to be a long-term solution.

With consistent care, they can last decades—and often a lifetime.

Like natural teeth, their longevity depends on:

  • Daily brushing and flossing
  • Regular dental visits
  • Protecting against habits like grinding or excessive force

While the restoration (the crown or prosthetic) may need maintenance over time, the implant itself is built to be a durable foundation.

Why Semidey Dental’s Implants Are the Best: Dr. Alex Semidey Explains

People are often surprised to learn that there are hundreds of dental implant manufacturers out there, and guess what folks? They can’t all be top-notch, right? When I was making the decision as to what implant we would be placing, what brand of implants, it was very simple for me.
It’s what implant would I be comfortable placing in my mom’s mouth.
So, we only work with the very best implant manufacturers, and they are made out of very high-grade titanium, the most biocompatible materials. It decreases any chances of not having a successful procedure. So that’s very, very important to us, right. Using the absolute best quality materials and instruments that we can find. So in the office, we have a proven process, and it is technology-driven, and it all starts with the comprehensive evaluation, and part of that is what’s called a 3D X-ray or a CT scan. We take a CT scan of the mouth that shows us exactly how much bone we have, how dense the bone is, what the absolute best place to put that implant in your mouth is so that you have a very long-lasting restoration that’s going to function just like your normal tooth would for years and years to come. So that process that’s technology-driven is super important. Whether you have your implants done with us or not, please, please, please make sure that a CT scan is a part of that treatment plan process. Because it is the standard of care. Without that, we’re kind of working blind. The number three aspect of what makes implants very high quality at Semidey Dental is honestly my training. I’ve spent hundreds and hundreds of hours mastering the arts of dental implantology and it’s a field that I absolutely love. So, we have a great track record and a very successful track record with implants, and I can guarantee you if you come and have your consult you won’t regret it. So, give us a call at 954-939-0996 to set up a consultation and find out more about how our dental implants can be the right solution for you. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Comfort During Dental Implants: Dr. Alex Semidey Discusses Pain-Free Procedures at Semidey Dental

I totally get it. Nobody likes to go to the dentist. Nobody wants to sit down in the chair and have, you know, an invasive procedure done in their mouths. So anxiety is something that we’re very used to dealing with. And I’ll be perfectly honest, I tell my patients all the time, you know, I’m a patient too, and when I’m in the chair, I get a little anxious. So, we can all totally relate to that. That’s why we have taken steps to make the entire patient journey at Semidey Dental as comfortable as possible. You know that starts off by the way you’re greeted, when you first call in, the way you’re greeted when you walk into the practice. You know, we are a small cozy type dental practice, family owned. We have four chairs in four private rooms, and we are a low-volume type of practice where the entire team knows you by name. They know what your goals are. They know what your treatment plan is, and we’re all working together in unison towards that common goal. So, that’s a very important part of decreasing the anxiety when it comes to dentistry in general, because we want our patients to feel comfortable in their environment. Above and beyond that, we’ve taken care of, we always talk about appealing to the senses. So, all of our handpieces are electric, meaning that high-pitched drilling noise is gone, right? All of our It’s like an electric car. Electric cars are quieter than normal cars. The same thing with handpieces. So, we have quiet handpieces. We have custom music in all of our rooms. We have warm blankets and pillows and warm lavender-scented towels to complete every procedure. And above and beyond that, if there are issues of anxiety for patients, we have sedation options. Now, let me explain what that entails. Oral sedation is basically a pill that you would take and it quiets the part of the brain that gets anxious. That’s it. You take a pill about an hour before your visit. You would have a ride to and from the office, and most folks sleep right through their surgical visits. It’s awesome. If you feel like anxiety has kind of gotten in the way of you getting the dental care that you want, give us a call at (954) 939-0996, and we’ll be happy to review all the options you have. We look forward to seeing you soon.

FAQs

Does treatment take a long time?

No. Implant placement is completed in a single office visit. The longest part of the process is the healing afterward. It can take between two and six months for the implant and the bone to integrate. This timeframe varies based on factors like your general health and the quality of the bone in your jaw. Many patients find this waiting period well worth it, as implants support a lifetime of healthy function and smiles.

So, implants can last for the rest of my life?

Yes. Implants are designed to replace teeth and keep the supportive tissues in the jaw healthy. This feature helps to keep your new teeth in top shape, because they are designed like natural teeth. But, just like natural teeth, they do require care.

How do I care for my implants?

Implants are vulnerable to a condition that is similar to gum disease. This inflammation develops around the implant and is commonly due to a lack of good brushing and flossing. It can also develop as a result of smoking, which reduces blood flow, delays healing, weakens your immune system, and increases your risk of infection. When the tissues in the jaw break down, it affects the integrity of your implants.

What can I expect during implant placement?

Not unlike other dental treatments, implant placement is performed with local anesthesia. You won’t feel anything as the areas to be treated are fully numbed. Every aspect of our dental office and the patient experience is designed with your comfort at heart, from relaxing lighting to soothing aromatherapy. If you are concerned or nervous about any aspect of treatment, we want to hear from you and will work with you to put those fears to rest.

What can I expect right after treatment?

It’s not unusual to experience some mild tenderness as the anesthesia wears off. You may also notice some bruising, swelling, and minor bleeding. These effects can be managed with things like the application of a cold compress.

When and what can I eat after treatment?

Our tooth tribe provides you with complete instructions to support predictable healing. This includes nutritional support. We encourage you to stock up on nutritious soups, yogurt, and smoothies. Slowly introduce solid foods like steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes. You’ll want to avoid hard, crunchy, chewy, and sticky foods. These foods can disturb the implant site. Also, avoid spicy or hot foods, which can irritate healing tissues.

Can I afford implants?

At our office, you can! We have removed many barriers to getting the treatment you want and need. Our tooth tribe may explore payment options such as flexible financing through CareCredit® and our in-house member savings plan.

How do implants compare to other types of tooth replacement?

Traditional bridges and dentures are held in place by neighboring teeth and tissues. They are not connected to the jawbone like how implant crowns, bridges, and dentures are – so, implants are the option that most closely resembles natural teeth. This important characteristic supports a natural appearance and feel in the mouth and the long-term strength and durability of your new teeth. After all, implants are the only option that keeps your jawbone strong and prevents the bone loss that can affect the fit, feel, and function of conventional bridges and dentures over time.
